ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS SARA MILLS TENTANG STEREOTIPE PERANAN ISTRI DALAM BERUMAH TANGGA DALAM CERAMAH NASIHAT PERNIKAHAN
Abstract
This study aims to critically analyze the discourse related to the stereotypes of a wife’s role in household management as presented in marriage advice sermons using Sara Mills' discourse analysis model. The research employs a qualitative method with discourse analysis techniques, focusing on three wedding sermon videos by Ustad Gus Miftah, Ustad Adi Hidayat, and Ustad Maulana, delivered to three Indonesian celebrity couples. Data were obtained through observation and in-depth analysis of these videos, concentrating on subject-object positions, reader positions, media positions, representation, and feminist movements. The findings indicate that although these sermons contain elements that could reinforce gender stereotypes, the preachers also emphasize the importance of balance in the roles of husband and wife, as well as respect for women as partners in the household. The study concludes that marriage advice sermons have the potential to either reinforce or weaken gender stereotypes depending on the perspective employed in their delivery.
